The Lord bless you and keep you
The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you
The Lord turn His face towards you and give you peace.
Holding you both in my thoughts and prayers.
as you are probably very well aware, one of our posters is fighting a nasty and rare form of lymphoma.. .
ian has a lot of grit, and would really appreciate our positive thoughts/vibes/prayers, etc., whatever suits your paradigm .
it's every tuesday evening, with the first tuesday of a month (like this one) making a special effort to join in for a hyper-effort!!!

what do these lyrics mean to you?.
sweet child in time, you'll see the line.
the line that's drawn between, the good and the bad.
Sweet child in time, you'll see the line
The line that's drawn between, the good and the bad
See the blind man, shooting at the world
Bullets flying, taking toll
If you've been bad, Oh Lord I bet you have
And you've not been hit by flying lead
You'd better close your eyes, and bow your head
And wait for the ricochet
I reckon it's saying that although some learn right from wrong (sweet child), others don't (blind man) and therefore they don't give a damn who they hurt (shooting at the world...).
The last 4 lines have a recognition that nobodys perfect (...I bet you have) and some people think they can get away with it (not been hit by flying lead) but in the end justice comes around - sometimes from unexpected sources (the ricochet).
Deep stuff from Deep Purple - cool band!
i discovered today that my company are paying newbies (trainees) considerably more than me,.
i'm a bit miffed about it to be honest.
i don't think i'm on a bad wage, but it doesn't seem right that.
I haven't actually discussed my salary with anyone - one new employee decided to tell everyone else)I haven't actually discussed my salary with anyone - one new employee decided to tell everyone else
So you haven't breached your contract - the newbie has!
as far as I know, if you are doing 'equivalent' work and assuming you have the same skills/qualifications, your employer is legally obliged to pay you the same rate. If they refuse to do so, crazy as this sounds, you can resign and claim for unfair dismissal with the employment tribunal. (Be warned though - this can take years!)
Make an appointment to see someone at your nearest Citizens Advice Bureau, it's free and they'll give you lots of help whatever happens.
Good luck

ouch!!
Ouch!!!
carried unanimously, methinks!
now that you have made that exit from the cult, wtbts., or are fading, are you too tough on yourself?
do you have a little voice inside your head that's constantly telling you that you don't measure up?
nearly all of us carry these voices around, some are louder than others, some are quieter.
Yes, I beat myself up far more than I should. Always wonder if I'm acceptable/good enough for almost ANYTHING.
I'm learning this is because my past is so embedded in my subconcious that it has an effect on how I react to situations today. I guess for me at least it's a case of constantly questioning and 'reprogramming' these reactions. But it can take an awful long time.
i'm really nervous and scared right now.
i just brought my boy kitty to the emergency care clinic with a blocked urinary tract.. i noticed something was wrong last night when i came home and his sister greeted me at the front door (he is always the first one to greet me).
i went into my bathroom and saw that one of them had pooped on the floor - something neither of them had ever done before.
Hi there, hope your cats have made friends again! Its probably the strange smells he brought home from the vets.
Have you discussed the murmur with the vet yet? If he only has a slight murmur (I think they say Grade 1 or 2) they might not give him any medication at all, but you'd have to watch for signs of it getting worse - breathlessness, wheezing, those sort of symptoms.
My cat has to have half a VERY small tablet every day (its 1.25mg Ramipril - very small) she has the added problem of having no teeth so she can only eat dry food! I have to use a 'pill popper' for her which is sometimes quite traumatic for both of us - I have the scars on my arms to prove it!
A very good way of giving cats or dogs tablets is to coat them thickly in cheese spread or cream cheese - they love it (usually) but its so sticky that they can't spit it back out!! - cool con trick eh? .
If its liquid medicine then its just a case of putting it on a small piece of meat or fish which will soak it up. I have to do this occasionally with my other cat who has arthritis - pets - expensive or what?!
I forgot to suggest to you also about cat food - it might be an idea to put him onto a senior/light formula. These are made with the intention of helping kidney function (plus other things like eyesight) because elderly cats are prone to urinary problems. Also it will help keep his weight under control - which will keep the strain off his heart. See what your vet thinks about it though.
I'm not sure whether you can get the brand that I use over there - its called James Wellbeloved, it has natural ingredients in (eg cranberry juice which keeps the urine pH down) and its largely rice based too so you don't need to feed as much.
Hope this is a help
i enjoy discussing god with people from all walks of life & all beliefs.
this is just something that has been skipping about in my brain...is it possible that god appeared to different cultures as different gods????
to the jews of the ancient days he appeared as yahweh, to the buddhist as budda, to the christians as jesus, to the moselim as allah etc etc.. i know the witnesses taught that everyone doesn't worship the true god & not all religions lead to god.

gotta stop blaming us stupid humans for god's problems.
I know you're not likely to agree with this but please hear me out! The way I see it is that it's us stupid humans that are God's problems! We misinterpret/misrepresent His word and add our own rules and regulations. We twist it to suit our own purposes. To that end, Christians believe He sent His son to offer a way out of the mess we've made. The Muslims believe He sent Muhammad, etc, etc...
I still believe that most of the religions originally taught a message of love for God and one's neighbour. To quote Greendawn:
Religions have this thing in common that they point to a spiritual dimension in man and spiritual goals to be striven for.
However in practise they don't work because the lower instinctive side always proves stronger and wrecks spiritual development in mankind.

well actually i'm giving the whole bit, plasma, platelets, while/red cells...for the first time and i'm very excited!
sounds very massochistic, but it's not for the love of pain, it's just that it's taken me so long to become mentally ofe' with it.
i've had a mental block about it for so long, but have gradually enabled myslef to overcome it by educating myself more fully on the subject.
Just to add that I'm proud of you as well Frog.
I had to stop giving blood because my BP was on the low side so had a risk of passing out after donating. I'm quite a rare group so I was really upset when I had to stop.
I'm on the organ donor register though - shouldn't have any problems there!

I'm playing catch up here! Glad your cat is well. Just to say don't worry about the heart murmur, one of my cat has grade 4 (the worst is grade 5) murmur. she's on medication and you'd never know she has a 'problem' at all.
no longer being a christian, it has become a mind opening experience to look back and see certian things i once ignored or just brushed off.
yet now i can not help but see these things and wonder why other christians do not.. if you have ever studied greek, roman or any other cultures religions in history.
then you have no doubt read their legends, about gods and how things came to be, and no doubt you have enjoyed these and at the same time you must have wondered how people actually bought this enough to make it a religion.
Your hatred has made you powerful, now give in to your anger and lash out at me again,
Forgive me for saying this but you're starting to sound like SOmeone on a thread not far from here...
In all seriousness though, an essay by a Christian to disprove my thought and make it appear that Christianity is correct is not up my ally.
We only really learn by studying everything thats out there. Where did you get your 'knowledge' about the Greek/Roman myth/Jesus myth? You must have studied it in depth - including articles purely out to disprove Christianity.
Your comment cuts both ways - if you're not prepared to look at the Christian perspective, why should a Christian (or anyone else) look at the non-christian perspective. Perhaps I should ignore all the things in Sironas posts that originally prompted me to take part on this thread...
Classicist:
No one can prove either, unfortunately. And so we are left with decisions that none of us are qualified to make.
Sound reasoning. Much appreciated.
